Microsoft Access remains a strong option for managing business data—be it client records, budgets, or project workflows. It performs optimally for offices with up to 20 users in the same location. A.D.S. has successfully delivered solutions that operate within single departments as well as across diverse office setups. Though we also specialize in large-scale systems with SQL Server for advanced data collection, Access is still a smart choice for small and medium-sized businesses. With its deep integration in the Microsoft ecosystem, you can unlock robust functionality without committing to costly, recurring cloud service fees.

By working in harmony with Excel, Word, and the wider Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Access provides a unified environment for managing and presenting data. This integration helps teams work more efficiently and keeps processes running smoothly across the board.

Access and Excel complement each other well—data from Excel can be structured and queried in Access, while Access results can be exported back to Excel for detailed analysis and reporting. This two-way workflow helps teams avoid rework and makes it easy to capitalize on the strengths of each program.

Easily send company-wide or customer-focused emails using Outlook’s built-in capabilities. Access takes things further by automating shared calendar updates for your employees. For businesses that regularly generate and email estimates, job bids, or invoices, this integration offers a seamless and scalable solution.

With Microsoft Access linked to Word, you can harness Mail merge to efficiently create individualized letters, labels, and documents using your database information. This is perfect for businesses or groups that frequently send personalized messages such as invoices, invitations, or client alerts.

Additionally, integrating Access with VBA and other Office products lets you:

  • Automate document creation using macros and VBA
  • Improve data accuracy by minimizing manual data entry between programs
  • Develop fully functional CRMs/HRMs/ERMs or other resource or process management systems
  • Maintain a consistent workflow across different Office tools
  • Generate rich reports and dashboards with real-time data
  • Increase speed of handling the day-to-day administrative tasks that all businesses require

WORKS FOR ALL TYPES OF BUSINESSES

A.D.S. recommends Access for businesses looking for a small to medium-sized system that can handle around 20 users simultaneously. Access development typically comes with lower fees and quicker turnaround times than competing options.

PROS AND CONS
Can be programmed with a user-friendly front-end. Only compatible with Microsoft Windows.
You may already have Access because it is often packaged with other Microsoft Office products. If not, you can download a free runtime version. Users trying to work concurrently on the same Access Database must be logged into the same local area network.
Lower upfront development cost than other databases, such as SQL server. Can not process large amounts of data as quickly as SQL Server.

If you plan on having more than 20 concurrent users, we can create a more robust Microsoft SQL Server system for you.
