When it comes to organizing client, financial, or project data, Microsoft Access is a practical standalone solution. It’s particularly useful for teams of 20 or fewer who use the same local area network. A.D.S. has crafted systems that serve everything from single departments to larger networks that span multiple offices. While we assist with heavy data processing through SQL Server, Access still holds strong as an ideal platform for small to mid-size businesses. You can accomplish a great deal within the Microsoft environment—without the subscription fees many cloud-based alternatives demand.

Access is tightly integrated with familiar Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word, allowing users to handle data tasks with greater ease. This smooth interoperability supports faster workflows and increased productivity across teams.

When Excel data is imported into Access, it gains structure and becomes easier to manage and analyze through relational queries. Meanwhile, exporting Access data back into Excel opens up a familiar environment for deeper analysis and visualization. This bidirectional flow ensures smooth collaboration between tools and minimizes time spent on reformatting.

Mass communication through Outlook is simple—whether you need to inform staff about changes or connect with customers. Access further supports your workflow by adding events to shared calendars within Outlook across your team. Together, these tools streamline processes like sending quotes, bids, or invoices to a wide client audience.

Access and Word together enable mail merge capabilities that help you produce tailored letters, labels, and other documents based on your Access data. This is ideal for organizations that need to send out personalized correspondence like customer notifications, invoices, or event invitations.

Additionally, integrating Access with VBA and other Office products lets you:

  • Automate document creation using macros and VBA
  • Improve data accuracy by minimizing manual data entry between programs
  • Develop fully functional CRMs/HRMs/ERMs or other resource or process management systems
  • Maintain a consistent workflow across different Office tools
  • Generate rich reports and dashboards with real-time data
  • Increase speed of handling the day-to-day administrative tasks that all businesses require

WORKS FOR ALL TYPES OF BUSINESSES

When clients require a small to mid-sized database with up to 20 simultaneous users, A.D.S. favors Access. It usually offers reduced programming costs and faster delivery than alternative systems.

Most businesses use software—but not all use software that fits their needs perfectly. Contact us today to begin crafting a custom solution that truly works for you. You’ll appreciate working with a skilled programming company that understands how to support your business from the ground up. Break free from generic programs and embrace the flexibility of a tailored system. Call (267) 831-0166 to find out if Access is the right tool for you.

PROS AND CONS
Can be programmed with a user-friendly front-end. Only compatible with Microsoft Windows.
You may already have Access because it is often packaged with other Microsoft Office products. If not, you can download a free runtime version. In order for users to work concurrently on an Access Database, they must all be connected to the same local area network.
Lower upfront development cost than other databases, such as SQL server. May process data more slowly than Microsoft SQL Server, especially with large amounts of data.

If you plan on having more than 20 concurrent users, we can create a more robust Microsoft SQL Server system for you.
