Microsoft Access gives small and mid-sized organizations a practical way to keep related business information in one structured system. It can support a single user or a shared office network, manage substantial collections of operational data, and grow into a SQL Server-backed solution when greater scale is needed. Because it is part of the Microsoft ecosystem, Access can also coordinate naturally with the Office tools employees already know, without requiring a recurring cloud subscription for every function.

One of Access's greatest strengths is how easily it works with the rest of Microsoft Office. Data stored in a relational Access system can move into Excel for analysis, Word for document generation, and Outlook for communication and scheduling, allowing separate desktop tools to behave like parts of one coordinated business process.

Access and Excel complement each other particularly well. Large or highly related datasets can be stored and queried efficiently in Access, then selected results can be sent to Excel for formulas, pivot tables, charts, and other familiar analysis. Information can also move the other direction when spreadsheet data needs to become part of a controlled relational database.

Connecting Access with Outlook can turn routine communication into a button-click process. A custom database can prepare and send customer emails, distribute internal notices, generate estimates or invoices for delivery, and place appointments on individual or shared calendars. That keeps contact and scheduling tasks tied directly to the business records that prompted them.

Word integration lets an Access database turn stored records into finished documents without repeated copy-and-paste work. VBA can feed names, addresses, order details, and other fields into mail merges or custom templates to produce letters, labels, invoices, notices, contracts, and similar documents in a consistent format.

Furthermore, this tight integration enables you to:

  • Increase speed of handling the day-to-day administrative tasks that all businesses require
  • Generate rich reports and dashboards with real-time data
  • Automate document creation using macros and VBA
  • Maintain a consistent workflow across different Office tools
  • Improve data accuracy by minimizing manual data entry between programs
  • Can be developed into fully functional CRMs/HRMs/ERMs or other resource or process management systems

WORKS FOR ALL SIZE BUSINESSES

For organizations that need roughly twenty or fewer concurrent users, Access is often a fast and economical platform for a custom system. Development can be quicker than with larger application stacks, while still providing the relational design, forms, reporting, and Office integration needed for substantial day-to-day business use.

Off-the-shelf software asks your business to adapt to someone else's assumptions. A.D.S. instead builds around the procedures you actually use, giving you a system that can change as those procedures evolve. PROS AND CONS
Can usually support up to 20 users. Microsoft Access will only run on a LAN, therefore it is only available for one network as a stand-alone program.
Microsoft Access is often included in Microsoft Office, so you probably already own it - if you don’t, we can set up the free Runtime version of Microsoft Access. Not practical as a core database for larger companies due to capacity limits of about 2GB.
Lowest upfront development cost. Not as robust as Microsoft SQL Server when you need more than 20 users.

In situations where you plan to have more than 20 simultaneaous users, We are still your go-to in order to set you up with a more robust SQL Server based system.
